Great Fit

Tailoring can improve the fit on any garment; however, all the massaging in the world will not make an inferior garment fit, feel and look like a garment constructed with great workmanship. A flat piece of fabric will only conform to the intricate shape of the human body, and retain that shape if the infrastructure is there to support it. It pays to buy quality form the outset.

Tailored clothing is the bench mark. Everyone is shaped differently therefore the clothing needs to be indivualized as well. Clothing should not just merely cover the body.

  • A coat that is too tight draws attention to ones middle
  • A shirt collar that fits to snuggly portrays one of “uncomfortable ness.”
  • Trousers that are too long or too short appear sloppy.
  • Trousers worn below the belly draw attention to the belly.
  • Sleeves that are to long make the body look out of proportion.

A Wardrobe consultant knows how to properly measure a client and translate that information into recommendations. Their working knowledge of the interaction between the following measurements:

  • Coat waist, Coat seat, Coat length, Chest, over-arm, half back, point to point, shape of shoulders, sleeve inseam, orientation of arm to shoulder, shape of chest, posture, length of neck, trouser waist, trouser seat, crotch length, front trouser rise, back trouser rise, bow legs, trouser thigh, trouser knee, trouser bottom, trouser inseam, vest opening point, and vest length enables them to point out the benefits and limitations of ready made clothing vs. custom made clothing.

Wardrobe consultants recognize body type features and know what adjustments are necessary to obtain a proper fit, and how to accomplish the desired results. Some adjustments can be made after a garment has been made, while other adjustments can only be accomplished when the garment is being made (cutting/pattern stage).

Custom clothing can overcome any of the following: sloping shoulders, prominent chest, square shoulders, erect posture, stooping posture, a swayed back, a long neck, arms that are pushed forward or backwards from shoulders, bent elbow, or like to wear trousers below belly, or have big thighs, a large seat, or bow legs. These unique requirements can only be accounted for at the pattern stage.
